Focus on Microscopy 2015
March 29 - April 1, 2015
The next Focus on Microscopy FOM 2015 meeting is nearing. It will take place in Göttingen, Germany in the week before Easter 2015 from Sunday March 29 to Wednesday April 1 2015. To see the program of the upcoming conference, just click on 'program' in the column on the left.
The conference will take place at the Lokhalle event center, Bahnhofsallee 1b, Göttingen, Germany, which is located directly behind the ICE train station. Further information: www.lokhalle.de. Details regarding registration, abstract submission, deadlines, etc. can be found under the various links to the left of the present home page of this website. The main program of the conference will start at 5:30h in the afternoon on Sunday March 29 with a plenary opening session followed by a welcome reception. After the close of the conference on April 1 a conference dinner is planned.
Göttingen is a vibrant university city located in the heart of Germany, in the south of Lower Saxony, between the Harz mountains and the Weser River. As 'City of Science', education and research strongly determined its historic city life and continues to do so in the present. Göttingen is well known for its Georg-August-University. Famous scientists, like Gauss and Lichtenberg, lived and worked here and have crowned Göttingen with 43 Nobel prize laureates. The picturesque half-timbered houses in the historic city centre, its medieval city hall and the 'Gänseliesel' together with the many students and visitors from all over the world contribute to a unique city atmosphere. More info about Göttingen can be found at here.
Focus on Microscopy 2015 is the continuation of a yearly conference series presenting the latest innovations in optical microscopy and their application in biology, medicine and the material sciences. Key subjects for the conference series are the theory and practice of 3D optical imaging, related 3D image processing, and reporting especially on developments in resolution and imaging modalities. The conference series covers also the rapidly advancing fluorescence labeling techniques for confocal and multi-photon 3D imaging of -live- biological specimens.
Typical topics of the present and upcoming FOM conference will include:
• Theory and practice of confocal and multiphoton-excitation microscopy • Super-resolution, nanoscopy imaging: from PSF engineering (4pi, SIM, STED), fluorescent activation/quenching, stochastic/centroid (PALM, STORM, GSDIM, SOFI and related techniques) to TIRF • 3D and 4D live cell and tissue imaging • Adaptive optics for microscopy • Developments in phase/interference microscopies • Light sheet microscopy • Advanced fluorescence imaging/spectroscopy: FRET, FRAP, FLIM, FCS • New fluorescence probes, proteins, quantum dots, single molecule imaging • Coherent non-linear microscopies: SHG, THG, SFG, CARS. • Developments in phase/interference microscopies • Multi-dimensional fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy imaging • Correlated light/electron microscopy • Laser manipulation and tracking, photo-activation • Bio- and nanomaterials, biosensors • OCT, endoscopy • Fast acquisition, automated and high-content microscopy • 3D image processing and visualization for multidimensional data
At the 2015 conference the topic "Super-resolution techniques and applications" will receive special attention, this also in connection with the recently awarded Nobel Prize in this field.
A technical exhibition will be an integral part of the upcoming FOM conference.
