The FocusOnMicroscopy 2001 conference will take place in Amsterdam from April 1 to April 4, 2001 as the next in a succesfull series of interdisciplinary conferences on 3D image acquisition and 3D image processing.

Confocal microscopy, multiphoton excitation and deconvolution techniques are increasingly applied in the study of three-dimensional structures such as are encountered in biology, medicine and material sciences. Three-dimensional image analysis and representation are crucial elements in subsequent data assessment. The most recent developments in these sciences will be covered together with their practical applications.

These conferences offer an effective meeting point for developers and users working in these rapidly evolving fields and play and have played an important role in the dissemination of information about new developments in these areas. Running for well over ten years with the first one started in Giessen in 1989 at the emergence of confocal microscopy these conferences have expanded into covering all modes of 3D image acquisition techniques in microscopy.

New developments such as multi-photon excitation, time resolved micro-spectroscopy, FRET and coherent anti-Stokes Raman generation make possible to obtain information far beyond classical resolving power of the light microscope and find their applications in biology where information at the molecular level is needed. This year there will be special attention for the issue: "Microscopy of living cells and tissue" as a reaction on the growing number of participants that are interested in this field of biology and the growing number of researchers that use GFP-techniques for their experiments.

In order to incorporate the most recent developments in the program, the deadline for the submission of abstracts is February 1, 2001. Further information on location, registration, paper presentation, abstract submission and format, contact etc. you will find under the appropriate headings on this page.

We invite you to participate in this conference on behalf of the Society for 3-D imaging sciences in Microscopy.

More information on this conference will become available later on. For your convenience we set up an electronic notification service which will inform you when more information is available on this website. Just leave your name and e-mail address at the notification service.
